Blast from the past

Is it going too far to say that steelmaking is a noble profession? After all, it has been around for a long time and steel people often work in the same industry for generations within one family. Even the history of the modern steel industry dates back to the 1850s. Since then, steel has become a basic element of the world's industrial economy and increasingly the material that is building the infrastructure of the modern world. Here, we will honour some of the giants of the past (blast furnaces, steel personalities and historical facts) that together make up the history of steel.
