Safety

“We are involving everyone, from top to bottom, and we are working hard to share the lessons of every incident in all our plants worldwide. Nothing is more important than safety and we are determined to achieve the highest possible standards.” Gonzalo Urquijo, GMB member

At ArcelorMittal, Health and Safety is always our top priority. This will continue to be the case despite the challenges of the global economic environment since the end of 2008 and continuing into 2009. That's why we've developed the ‘Journey to Zero' programme - a widely held and deeply felt initiative - with the goal of zero accidents and zero illnesses. By learning together and sharing best practices across our entire organisation, we can engage our people at all levels. The result? High impact Health and Safety improvement that protects the company's greatest asset - our people.
