Under the Milau Viaduct

The Milau Viaduct information centre is located at the foot of the site and was built with the Styltech process that uses galvanized steel profiles. It can be completely dismantled as it was designed to last only as long as the worksite but, in fact, it will remain and be converted into a multipurpose hall, once the viaduct is open.

The envelope of the building is of a very innovative design and is made up of a variety of standard metal skins : bent, solid or perforated sections (ST E2 900 and ST Lumière), and Ondatherm sandwich panels that can be seen on the roof and behind the perforated sections (ST Lumière). Within the framework of our building, the insulated panels play several roles : as roofing elements, thermal insulation and watertight/ airtight elements behind the perforated façade facing.

The ARVAL Ondatherm 201 insulated panels are directly fixed onto the Styltech metal framework. Tthey are self carrier sheets and can be as long as 12m.

The insulating core of the panels is rigid polyurethane foam continuously injected between two metal skins. It can be of varying thicknesses : 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 or 100 mm according to the thermal insulation requirements.

There are numerous advantages to using insulated panels :
There is speed and ease of erection. The building is water/ air free and is insulated all in one go, since the insulation is part of the finished product. For the Milau Information centre, the architects chose to leave the lacquered underside of the Ondatherm panels visible.

Apart from thermal insulation, the ARVAL sandwich panels also play a part in achieving a certain degree of acoustic comfort.

They are easy to handle and their weight does not exceed 15kg/m². Installation and storage advice for the panels can be found on the technical data sheet of the product.

You can find a whole range of flashings for the panels (closer, ridge, diverse edge cap flashings…) as well as other products.

Once you have chosen the colour from the ARVAL Colour Chart, you can select the coating for the external or internal facing in accordance with the characteristics of the building and its environment, see the range of ARVAL colour coatings. Installation advice for the sandwich panels can be found in the technical report.
