ArcelorMittal Construction

addressing the housing challenge through innovative and sustainable construction systems

Forecast for the year 2050 states that :

  • The world’s resources are under pressure, the consumption of land, energy, water and other raw materials is increasing at a rapid rate,
  • The world’s population will reach 9.1 billion people (an increase of more than 33% from 2009),
  • 70% of people will live in urban areas,
  • People living in the “least developed countries” will more than double to 1.7 billion.

This means that by 2030 we will need 40% more houses and service infrastructure than in 2005.

That translates into a need for the construction of over 4,000 additional houses per hour for the next 20 years !

To help meet the worldwide demand for housing, ArcelorMittal provides a range of efficient systems and solutions for all housing segments: low cost, affordable and high-end houses.

These are all based on different steel technologies, including:

  • Light steel framing which is made of cold- formed profiles produced by roll forming. It is being used successfully in many countries

  • Structural composite panels for modular systems made up of industrialized components conditioned in containers and easy to be assembled.

  • Prefabricated panels for walls, rooves and floors with external and internal finishing, ready to be erected on site for collective or in- dividual housing.
