Chicago Waste to Profit Network
The steel industry pioneered recycling and steel is the most recycled material on earth.
Therefore, it is only appropriate for ArcelorMittal to serve as a founding member of the Chicago Waste to Profit Network, established under the leadership of Mayor Richard M. Daley. This initiative facilitates the transformation of one company's waste, or by-product, into an industrial input for another company.
The program benefits Chicago-area businesses through a multi-industry collaborative approach to identify and realize opportunities for cost savings and innovation, turning costly waste streams into productive revenue streams while reducing the environmental impact of production.
To date, more than 80 Chicago-area companies have joined the network and implemented - or are in the process of implementing - 100 synergies.
