Properties

 

Usilight is a sandwich panel made of two thin steel skins and a polymer core:

  • Steel skin: 0.25 mm
  • Polmyer core: 0.4 to 1.5 mm
  • Steel skin: 0.25 mm

 

Advantages:


  • Weight reduction: 20% to 40%
  • Stiffness: two to three times higher than steel
  • Sound damping: loss factor = 10-2
  • Dent resistance as good as Bake hardening steel
  • Cost-effective
  • Forming and painting via existing tools of car manufacturers
  • Recycled as ordinary steel (good ranking in term of total CO2 emissions) 

     

  • Applications:
  • Exposed parts: hood, roof, hatchback, doors, wings
  • Inner parts: spare wheel housing, inside panels
