Sheet Rolling at Frýdek-Místek Is 175 Years Old
Ostrava, June 2, 2008 - ArcelorMittal Frýdek-Místek (former Válcovny plechu), member of ArcelorMittal Ostrava, Czech Republic’s largest steel company, celebrate their 175th birthday on Saturday, June 7. The anniversary of what once was Karlshütte Lipina will be commemorated with a huge Metalworker’s Party at the Stovky Football Stadium.
“Popular celebrity artists will add glamour to the party and the night will reach its climax in a grand show,” says Tomáš Mischinger, managing director and chairman of the board. The 10-hour plus show will feature stars like Šubaduba Band, Tučňáci, Beatles Revival, Věra Špinarová and Dan Nekonečný. Children’s program will include bumper cars, freestyle bench, kamikaze, boxing, kicking, slides, prize competitions, falconers, archers. The afternoon show will be hosted by Aleš Juchelka. The celebration will close with fireworks at around 10 p.m.
“The company management has prepared anniversary medals that were stamped at the mint of Kremnica. The medals will be reminiscent of history, featuring the plant’s old logo on one side, with the new name and logo of ArcelorMittal and the 175-year anniversary on the other side,” says managing director Tomas Mischinger.
