ArcelorMittal donates 100 trucks to Government of Liberia

04/09/2008

On August 25, 2008, ArcelorMittal donated 100 pickup trucks to the government of Liberia. The trucks will help accelerate the pace of key development projects in all of Liberia's counties, especially in the efforts to respond to the food crisis and expand agricultural production across the country.

A colourful ceremony was held in the yard of the Executive Mansion. Receiving the first batch of 20 out of 100 vehicles, Internal Affairs Minister, Ambulai Johnson, said that the Liberian Government and people were proud of the excellent collaboration between the Government and ArcelorMittal in addressing the nation's reconstruction and development programmes.

'transforming tomorrow' throughout Liberia

These vehicles are meant to further assist the Government's development initiatives associated with their recently announced Poverty Reduction Strategy.

ArcelorMittal Liberia CEO Joseph Matthews indicated that the donation was in keeping with ArcelorMittal's commitment to contributing and supporting the Government's plans and initiatives to develop Liberia. He also said that Liberians were fully aware of ArcelorMittal's huge investment in transforming the tomorrow of their country and the existing partnership with the Government. This collaboration aims to ensure that development reaches every part of Liberia.
