Business ethics

Ethical business practices

Nothing is more important to us than our reputation for honesty and integrity in business. We have a number of policies in place to address specific issues, which match best international practice in these areas.  But we also expect our people to observe the spirit as well as the letter of these policies in their day-to-day dealings.

Given the industry we're in, one of our most important priorities is Health and Safety. This is high on the agenda at every Board and Management Board meeting, and we have detailed standards and procedures that all our sites must follow.

Whistle-blowing

We have an established procedure for whistle-blowing, which all employees can access. If they have an issue they feel they can't raise with their line manager, they can use the whistle-blowing process to report it, either online or by post. It will then be investigated by the Audit Committee. The policy complies with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.

Insider dealing

Our Insider Dealing Policy complies with all the relevant national and international codes. It's designed to ensure that price-sensitive information is handled in the appropriate way, and market regulations are observed. We provide training for any employee who is likely to come into contact with this sort of information in the course of their work.
