S-in motion is a new concept for car makers who wish to create lighter, safer and more environmentally friendly vehicles for the 21st Century. The project demonstrates ArcelorMittal’s ongoing commitment to the automotive sector with a catalogue of steel parts and solutions that can be used to lighten production vehicles today.
The S-in motion catalogue:
ArcelorMittal was conscious that the solutions included in S-in motion needed to be cost-neutral for car makers, as well as lightening the weight of vehicles and increasing their safety. The savings were proved through a cost-analysis of the identified solutions. Forming and assembly simulations were carried out to assess any risks and to validate that an S-in motion vehicle could be assembled on an industrial scale.
S-in motion further demonstrates ArcelorMittal’s commitment to service in all stages of a vehicle’s design and production process and its ability to develop solutions that meet the needs of today’s car makers.
