ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

By the results of the certification audit carried out in March 2007, OJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih" acquired the right to use the Certificate under ISO 14001: 2004. The enterprise has also the right to use the certification mark of TNO Certification in letterhead papers, brochures and other printed matters relating to the certified sphere of activities.

The environmental management system existing at the enterprise enables to ensure a modern approach to accounting of the environmental priorities in planning and running the activities of OJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih":

• ♦ The Environmental Objectives, Targets, Programs of Reducing the Significance of Environmental Aspects have been established, based on which the long-term Plan of Pollution Abatement by OJSC "ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih" for 2006-2015 has been developed and agreed upon with the enterprise's top management and the state authorities;
• ♦ The Register of Regulatory Legal Acts Concerning Environmental Activities of the Enterprise has been put into effect and is being updated;
• ♦ By the administrative order, the Environmental Management System Manual has been put into force;
• ♦ The personnel of the enterprise and contracting organizations are trained in the matters of environmental protection and environmental management system;
• ♦ The emergency response plans are being established and updated in the structural subdivisions of the enterprise;
• ♦ According to the Schedule of Internal Auditing the Environmental Management System Performance in the Structural Subdivisions in 2008, the specialists of the Environmental Protection Service carry out audits of the environmental management system performance and the environmental legislation effectiveness in the enterprise's subdivisions;
• ♦ The management review is made annually and includes all the decisions and actions connected with possible changes in the environmental policy, objectives and targets, as well as other elements of the environmental management system consistent with the obligation of continual improvement.
