Arts and Culture

For a long time we have supported concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural events in our region. We also support the development of artistic and cultural programmes, e.g. the “Every Czech Reads to Kids” project.

December 2008 – ArcelorMittal Ostrava as a general partner of the SOUZNĚNÍ Festival

Our company, as a general partner, supported 10th year of a traditional festival of Christmas and advent customs, carols and handicrafts. The festival took place from 18 to 21 December 2008 in Ostrava and Kozlovice.

September 2008 – Ostrava Art 2008

ArcelorMittal Ostrava supported an extensive project organized by the Union of Visual Artists and Theoreticians of the Czech Republic.

July 2008 – Colours of Ostrava

Our company, as a main partner, supported the 7th year of the four-day music festival Colours of Ostrava. The festival, aimed at world music, jazz and other kinds of music, took place from 10 to 13 July 2008 and was attended by twenty-three thousand people from the whole of the Czech Republic. As a part of the festival we introduced our new activity, called ‘You throw away a plastic cup, we will plant a tree.’ Further information about this project is available in the Environment section of our website.

June 2008 – Janáček in Hukvaldy

Every year we support the International Music Festival Janáček in Hukvaldy. This festival took place from 15 June to 3 August, 2008 and there were many performers, e.g. Petr Dvorský, Prague Philharmonia, Janáček’s Philharmonic Orchestra or dulcimer’s music Hradišťan.
