HR Director becomes a new member of the Board of Directors of ArcelorMittal Ostrava

Ostrava, October 30, 2009 – HR Director Ctirad Lolek (36) was elected new member of the Board of Directors of ArcelorMittal Ostrava yesterday. Thus, the number of members of the Board has increased from three to four.

“It is a great honour to me to have been elected and I believe that now I will have an opportunity to contribute even more to the development of the biggest steelmaker in the Czech Republic. I would like to focus on further modernization of the company and long-term strengthening of its profitability and position in the market,” said Lolek after the election. He also emphasised that motivated and engaged employees continue to be among his priorities. I am aware that people create our company’s value. This year we have been going through a difficult period. I am convinced, though, that it has made us stronger than before and taught us to be a much more flexible organization. Now our common goal is to concentrate on the enhancement of our approach to customers,” said the new member of the Board.

Ctirad Lolek has been working with ArcelorMittal Ostrava since May 2008. From 2001 he worked with Timken CR (production of bearings) as an HR manager, from 2004 as an HR Director for Central and Eastern Europe in the same company and from 2007 he worked with Timken Europe where he was responsible for human resources in Czech, Polish, German, Italian, and Spanish mills. Lolek graduated from Palacký University in Olomouc in sociology and education of the adults with specialization in human resources management. Among his hobbies are cycling, skiing, hiking, and historical literature.
