To become more progressive, we have decided to launch a new form of corporate philanthropy – Company Volunteering. It involves support to charity projects for the benefit of non-government and non-profit organizations by means of the company and its employees helping togehter.

Meeting of Corporate Responsibility Managers

Photo This week ArcelorMittal Ostrava hosted a meeting of company representatives from the Moravian-Silesian region under the auspices of Czech Donors Forum (NGO supporting development of philanthropy in the Czech Republic). Company representatives in charge of Corporate Responsibility could share experience with impacts of economic crises on this area.

Volunteers from ArcelorMittal Ostrava read out to ill children

Photo As part of the nation-wide project Every Czech Reads To Kids the opening reading session was hold at the children’s ward of Havíøov Hospital on Monday 23 March 2009. ArcelorMittal Ostrava is the main partner of the project Every Czech Read To Kids in the Moravian-Silesian region. Besides the financial support the company offered children even part of itself when the company engaged its employees into the project as volunteers.

Volunteering day in Ostrava - helping in a wide variety of ways

Photo More than 400 employees helped the whole week as volunteers in more than 34 various NGOs as a part of the company volunteering programme, which culminated in celebration of the International Volunteer Day on 5 December.
