Recycling industrial packaging

When we talk of industrial packaging, we mean food, chemical or oil casks (220 l), small casks (60 l) as well as steel cans and boxes (0,25 l à 30 l).

Industrial packaging recycling in France
Since July 13 1994, regulations in France have stipulated that industrial and commercial waste (DIC) is to be recovered in its entirety and that this is to be done by the final users.

Trade unions and federations, which group together all the manufacturers of industrial steel packaging, united to create "Recyclacier Emballage” (Steel Packaging Recycling) in 1995.

The main aim of "Recyclacier Emballage” is to assist those who use metal packaging and steel casks to respect the recycling regulations which are imposed. The labelisation of companies collecting, treating and valorising steel packaging wastes, complying with existing legislations, allowed to put into relation the owners of used packaging with the valorisation channels, recognized by steel professionals.

The dispositions of the new dirctive 204/12/CE on packaging, in particular the new objectives being fixed for 2008 and their transposition in national law, drive us to extend our action in playing now a federative role between the actors of the industrial steel packaging chain.
Asked by the legislator, declarations of products put on the market and being valorized will help in establishing transparency of flows. The communication of data to Public Authorities, MEDAD and ADEME, will work with the help of professional associations to collect information, all along the industrial production filières, then during the valorisation of packaging and the materials they are made of.

Recyclacier Emballages is naturally designated to become the observatory of the steel recycling filière of industrial packaging in France.
