E2: EDI Delivery schedule message
Objectives
The EDI “Delivery schedule” message is sent by the customer to ArcelorMittal FCE to give details on short, medium and long term material requirements in line with the conditions set out in the purchase contract or order.
In this way a continuous material flow between ArcelorMittal FCE and the customer is postulated.
The customer will save time due to this service; there is less paperwork to do and the stage of re-entering data has disappeared. For ArcelorMittal FCE, the receipt of these messages, improves the operational efficiency.
Description
The Delivery schedule message, also called DELINS message, is intended to:
- Specify requirements based on the delivery conditions,
- Define the aspects that guarantee synchronisation between the customer and ArcelorMittal FCE,
- Provide information allowing ArcelorMittal FCE to plan future requirements, to purchase raw material, to fabricate and to plan the delivery of the goods in line with the delivery instructions, specified in the DELINS message.
ArcelorMittal FCE employs the DELINS form “Firm and Forecast delivery schedule”, which includes:
- The forecast information, this function covers a long period of time (e.g. from one month to one year) and is used to give ArcelorMittal FCE a basis for planning his own production. Forecast information can be updated by sending a new one;
- The firm delivery information, this function covers a short period of time (e.g. one day to one month) and is the instruction to move the goods. Being used for a firm order, delivery quantities and dates given in the message should not be changed by another Delivery schedule message.
