The factory of Arcelor Piombino spreads over an area of 300.000m² of which 123,000 is covered by industrial and building sites. Our tour begins at the port, where the production cycle initiates with the arrival of the raw material: the steel coils. The first operation performed on the coil on entry to our factory is the Pickling (action of removing the rust and surface oxidation due to exposure to atmospheric agents during transportation), Laminated (an operation which reduces the thickness and the width of the steel sheet), Galvanizing (done with zinc alloys for the protection of the steel), Painting ( so as to increase the steel resistance to corrosion as well as giving the finished product an appealing and personalized look. Our tour ends with a visit to our warehouses from where the coils are despatched to our clients.
