ArcelorMittal Poland improves its operations in order to make the production process more environmentally friendly. This is achieved thanks to:

The company’s efforts have been noticed by the authorities of Malopolska and Silesia regions, which have taken a decision to eliminate the safety zones around the plants and granted integrated permits for equipment in use. These permits acknowledge compliance of the company’s technical solutions and equipment parameters with the standards of the Best Available Techniques.
Taking care of the natural environment is the key element of the ArcelorMittal’s strategy of sustainable development. It is regulated by the strict norms of the company’s Environmental Policy and by the guidelines of the Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2004 implemented in 2001.
Application of a large number of air protection devices brings considerable environmental and economic benefits, since most of the dust can be recovered and reused in the technological process. On the other hand, it results in installation’s higher levels of energy consumption and increasing noise levels. ArcelorMittal Poland’s noise reduction programme, developed in cooperation with researchers at AGH University of Science and Technology and implemented in Kraków has been recognized by the Polish Chamber of Ecology and awarded with an Eco-laurel.
Air parameters are monitored on a regular basis by Voivodeship Inspectorates for Environmental Protection.

We want to participate in the dialogue with everyone interested in ArcelorMittal Poland’s pro-ecological activities and its environmental footprint. That is why, in 2009, we introduced into our structures a position of a Green Officer.
