ArcelorMittal participates in the efforts of the leading steel manufacturers to continuously improve rail making steel by harmonising the set of characteristics that determine its the performance on the tracks, such ashardness, deterioration resistance or fatigue resistance and weldability.
In this area, ArcelorMittal has been conducting research and carrying out the tests required by the European standard, particuarly:
- Oligocyclic fatigue test
- Fatigue crack growth test
- Fracture toughness test
- Weldability test (RENFE Standard)
- Residual stress test
ArcelorMittal develops Rails and Special Sections under the following specifications: Euronorm, UIC, Spanish, French, British, Russian, India, China, American and under the specifications of its customers.
