Ref.: Price evolution for sections in Q1 - 2010

To our valued customers,

Section demand has been improving throughout Q3 and Q4-2009 and is expected to continue on a firming path in Q1-2010.

In recent months, the volatile scrap price evolution has led to an erratic price environment, thus hampering business across the sections value chain.

Current section prices do not adequately cover production cost levels as input costs are rising on a revival of steel demand across the industry.

ArcelorMittal Commercial Sections will temporarily discontinue its current scrap surcharge mechanism that has been applied since end 2003.

Against this background, and following the previously announced size extra increase (+30€/t), ArcelorMittal Commercial Sections will apply an additional price increase for orders as of January 1st 2010 shipments:

+50 €/t on the small medium and heavy size range.

Ref.: Price evolution for sections in Q1 / 2010 

To our valued customers, 

ArcelorMittal Commercial Sections S.A. will introduce new size extras applicable for deliveries as of 01.01.2010.

The changes compared to the current size extras (01.01.2009) are as follows:

+ 30 €/t for the small, medium and heavy section ranges (categories 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7).

The new size extras will become an integral part of ArcelorMittal Commercial Sections’ price list.

 In addition, we forecast the scrap surcharge for January to rise again compared to December. As a matter of fact, scrap prices are bottoming out and we foresee a sustainable and progressive upward movement of scrap prices through Q1-2010.
