HISTAR : CE-marking and Reference projects

The revised product information brochure about HISTAR® steel grades from the heavy section mill in Differdange/ Luxembourg is now available.

HISTAR® steel grades produced at the heavy section mill at Differdange in Luxembourg have successfully been used and applied in 180 projects worldwide. Two of the world’s most impressive skyscrapers, Freedom Tower and the Hearst Tower, both in New York City, are part of the 180 that stand thanks to this special high-strength steel produced by ArcelorMittal.

A European Technical Approval (ETA) facilitates the application according to the European design standards and enables the CE marking. Column design tables allow designers a quick overview of the savings they can achieve in their projects by using HISTAR® (up to 40% compared with conventional steels).

Thanks to its improved performances, Histar 460 high strength steel sections are up to 40 % lighter than conventional profiles with equivalent bearing capacities. Savings in material are not only linked to cost savings but also to major reduction in greenhouse gases. In deed, substituting HISTAR® for common steel achieves CO2 reduction of up to 40% in steel columns and beams. This enables HISTAR® steels to score high in sustainability certification schemes for future and existing building constructions.

Thinner, Greener but also Stronger, over 300 different shapes in HISTAR® steel grades are available in the European, American, Chinese, British and Russian section ranges.
