Raw Material: Recycling Process
The raw material necessary for the manufacturing of steel in the Electric Arc Furnaces is mainly composed of recycled material and prereduced ores.
This means ArcelorMittal Sestao uses raw material composed of metallic steel pieces and parts, that come from the scrapping of ships, bridges, cars, electrical appliances, machines, etc., as well as from waste, trimmings and shavings from the metal industry, and rejects and trimmings from the manufacture of steel itself.
The ferric load, therefore, is a recycled material that has a high value for our plant. ArcelorMittal Sestao participates in the modern recycling chain of raw materials, in which steel has major advantages over its competitors.
