ArcelorMittal

Austenitic stainless steel is a grade characterized by good corrosion resistance, good ductile properties, excellent welding properties and good drawability. Austenitic also responds well to polishing.

further details :

Austenitic is the most popular stainless steel as a result of its excellent forming capability linked to good corrosion resistance thanks to the nickel content (from 4.15% to 19.70% depending on the grade).

Certain unstable austenitic, during cold rolling, undergo a partial transformation to a martensitic structure resulting in very high mechanical properties.

It represents the best possible compromise between corrosion resistance and mechanical properties whether at low temperature, room temperature or even high temperature.
