Ferritic stainless steel is characterized both by its resistance to corrosion in fairly aggressive environments and its cold forming capability. It is possible to achieve a very good surface finish which often avoids the need for additional finishing operations after delivery.

Ferritics combine good corrosion resistance (the chromium content is 17% minimum) and good oxidation resistance at high temperatures. They are always magnetic.
